TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology celebrated its 100th season of basketball with
Saturday’s doubleheader against Defiance that included a
postgame dinner for approximately 200 guests.
The festivities included introductions of
returning alumni at halftime of the men’s game against Defiance
that was played in front of the largest home crowd this season.
The reception and dinner featured speakers
from the three major eras of Rose-Hulman’s basketball history --
spans coached by Jim Carr, John Mutchner and Jim Shaw. Both
Mutchner and Shaw were featured speakers in the ceremony, and
Carr was remembered after passing away last December.
The evening concluded with the announcement
that a pair of scholarship funds, with the goal of raising
$100,000 each, will be established. The Jim Carr Memorial
Scholarship was introduced by Hal Brown, while the John Mutchner
Appreciation Scholarship was introduced by Tom Curry.
