TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology boosted its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament hopes with a come-from-behind overtime win over Manchester College on Saturday.

The Engineers trailed by 12 points late in the first half, before rallying for the 52-47 overtime victory on Senior Day.

Freshman Daniel Lowers (Gosport/ Edgewood) led the Engineer offensive effort with 19 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Senior Phil Sundling (Huntington/ North) added 12 points, seven rebounsd and four assists, while fellow senior Jared Moore (Indianapolis/ Perry Meridian) added 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Off the bench, Ross Uthoff (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) offered a strong 34-minute effort that featured six rebounds and two assists.  Junior Lorenzo Rice (Grandview, Mo.) added seven points and a pair of rebounds.

Senior Ron George (Louisville, Ky./ Manual) rounded out the players in their home finale with four points and three boards.

Mitch Schaefer and Jamaal Wade paced the Manchester offensive effort with 11 points.  The Engineers held the Spartans to just 23% shooting in the second half and 17% in overtime, after Manchester hit 57% in the first half.

Manchester held a 32-26 halftime advantage, before Rose-Hulman scored seven straight points to take a 33-32 on a score by Sundling at the 15:31 mark.  The two teams battled for the remainder of the second half, with ties at 36, 38, 40, 42 and 45.

The Spartans had a chance to win at the end of regulation, but a well defended layup by Tyler Delaunder rimmed out with five seconds left to force the extra session.

In overtime, Rose-Hulman held Manchester to just two points to secure the win.  George and Sundling each buried a pair of free throws in the final minute to help the Engineers earn the final margin.

Rose-Hulman improved to 11-13 overall and 7-8 in conference play with the victory, while Manchester dropped to 4-19 and 2-12 in league play.  The Engineers maintain the sixth spot in the HCAC standings, one-half game ahead of Bluffton University.
