ORLANDO, FLA. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology baseball team improved to 6-1 on its trip to Florida
with a 3-2 victory over Muhlenberg College on Thursday.
The victory was Rose-Hulman's third in its final
at bat during the trip, as junior Andrew Bilse (Munster)
slapped a game winning single to score senior Michael Cramer
(Burr Ridge, Ill./Hinsdale South) in the bottom of the
ninth.
The ninth inning tally made a winner out of
junior Jared Kronable (Grafton, Ill./Marquette), who
combined with freshman Ryan Fuller (Fort Wayne/ Elmhurst)
on a four-hitter.
Kronable tossed the final four innings and
allowed two hits and one run, after Fuller allowed just two hits
with six strikeouts in five innings of work.
Senior Andrew Pinkstaff (Vincennes/Lincoln)
led the Engineer offense with a double and a ninth-inning single
to help spark the game winning rally. Junior Tim Tepe
(Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) added a pair of singles on the day.
The ninth inning started with a single by Cramer
and a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Michael Kovacs (Cincinnati,
Ohio/Moeller). After sophomore Kreigh Williams
(Ossian/Norwell) was hit by a pitch, Pinkstaff singled to
load the bases. Bilse ended the game with his single to
center field.
Rose-Hulman improved to 6-1 on the season and
squares off with 26th ranked and undefeated Augustana College in
a doubleheader on Friday at 9 a.m.
