  Rose-Hulman News Rose-Hulman Handles Misericordia, Stands 4-0 on Spring Trip

AUBURNDALE, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 4-0 on its annual baseball spring trip to Florida with a 17-2 victory over Misericordia University on Monday.

Rose-Hulman pounded out 14 hits in the contest and relied on six runs in the eighth inning and four scores in two frames to earn the convincing victory.

Junior Andrew Bilse (Munster) and sophomore Chris Stemple (Mount Vernon) led the Engineer offense with three runs scored each.  Bilse tied a single-game school record with four walks and added a single, while Stemple had a triple on the afternoon.

Senior Michael Cramer (Burr Ridge, Ill./Hinsdale South), junior Chandler Kent (Antioch, Ill.), junior Troy Eveslage (Ramsey/North Harrison) and sophomore Kreigh Williams (Ossian/Norwell) also had multiple-hit games for the Engineers.

Cramer pitched in with a triple and two RBIs, with Kent contributing a double and two runs.  Williams had a triple and three RBIs, while Eveslage slapped two singles on the day.

On the mound, freshman Nick Rumpke (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming) was credited with the victory by the coaching staff after tossing 4.2 strong innings before being hit by a line drive.  Rumpke scattered five hits and struck out three with one walk on the day.

Junior Jared Kronable (Grafton, Ill./Marquette), freshman Jim Bob Schuler (Salem/North Harrison) and freshman Jimmy Allen (Lake Mary, Fla./Trinity Prep) combined on the nine-hitter to help the Engineers claim the victory. 

Rose-Hulman stands 4-0 on the season and squares off with NCAA Division III Mideast Region foe St. Vincent on Tuesday afternoon in the fifth of 10 games in Florida.
