Rose-Hulman News Three Soccer Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

Jennifer Gordon -- first-team Academic All-District

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's soccer teams combined for three academic all-district awards from ESPN The Magazine, in results released today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Seniors Jennifer Gordon (Zionsville) and Matt Trowbridge (Fort Collins, Colo./Poudre) each earned first-team academic all-district honors, while senior Rachel Miller (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) captured third-team accolades.

Gordon and Trowbridge will advance to the national ballot, with the Academic All-America teams scheduled for release on Nov. 19 (men) and Nov. 20 (women).

Gordon has scored seven goals this season and leads NCAA Division III with 25 assists for a total of 39 points.  The biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering double major recorded four assists in Wednesday's 4-2 Rose-Hulman victory over Manchester for the second-most assists in a game in school history.

Gordon holds Rose-Hulman's career school record with 48 assists and ranks fourth in school history with 82 points.

Matt Trowbridge -- first-team Academic All-District

Trowbridge earned the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference scoring championship this season with 21 goals.  His total was more than twice the goals of any other player in the HCAC regular season (10) and his marks of 45 career goals and 110 points stand second in school history.

The civil engineering major earned four HCAC Player of the Week honors and ranks ninth nationally in goals (21) and 13th in points (47).  His totals included seven game-winning efforts during a 12-6-1 season.

Miller led the HCAC in goals against average (0.64) and has established a single-season school record with 18 victories as the Engineer netminder in 2007.  Her efforts include 47 saves and a save percentage of .825.

Rachel Miller -- third-team Academic All-District

The biomedical engineering major ranks second in school history in career goals against average (0.93) and holds career school marks with 32 victories and 10 shutouts in goal.

The Rose-Hulman women's soccer team stands 18-2 on the season and hosts Transylvania University in the HCAC Tournament championship game on Saturday.  The winner of Saturday's matchup earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
