Welcome to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. My own graduation here in 1979 remains among the proudest and most exciting moments of my life. Rose-Hulman prepared me well for a great career and life through an outstanding education, as it has been doing for many others the past 135 years. I don’t think there could be a more exciting and vital place to be at this time than here at Rose-Hulman. The world needs, now more than ever, the best problem-solvers to meet the many global challenges we face, and Rose-Hulman is poised to meet those challenges. We continue to educate some of the best and brightest engineers, scientists and mathematicians disciplined in the hands-on approach that is the trademark of our education.

Our graduates have taken their Rose-Hulman experience to the leading edge of innovation in industry, government, human services, medicine, law and academia.

They have been able to do so thanks to a faculty and staff committed to the Rose-Hulman personalized education. Offices and state-of-the art labs operate with an open-door policy that enables our dedicated faculty to be more than teachers, they become mentors. That personalized education—focusing on students first—sets the foundation for all we do. The college’s mission will not change as we prove our excellence to a new generation.

Our success has not gone unnoticed. Rose-Hulman is listed in several guides to select colleges, including a 11-year ranking in U.S. News and World Report as the number-one college or university that offers the bachelor's or master's degree as its top degree in engineering. I could boast about our placement rate for graduating students, our retention rate and the high quality of our incoming freshman class. But I think you will gain a greater understanding of what makes the Rose-Hulman story special by surfing our Web site and reading about student projects that serve others, alumni successes around the world, and a faculty/staff combination that operates solely on a student-first basis.

It is my privilege and honor to return to my alma mater as president. I invite you to invest your time to learn more about this innovative, nationally recognized educational leader called Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. You will find, as I have, that Rose-Hulman is a great place to work, live, and learn.

Sincerely,

Matt Branam
