The main purpose of the Robotics Team is to promote understanding of robotics through projects funded by grants and donations. The members use a combination of their existing knowledge coupled with new things that they learn on the spot to solve complex problems in the areas of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering and computer science. The original project undertaken was a UAV that was entered into the International Aerial Robotics Competition which is hosted by the Associations for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International. The club first competed in this competition in 1996 and has continued to compete in it every year. Recently the Team switched to an UGV project which will become the main project. The Team also offers the opportunity for members to start new projects based on their level of interest in robotics.
