Rose-Hulman Scholarships and Grants

Rose-Hulman awards several types of scholarships and grants each year. Most do not require any extra application beyond the application for admission.

Rose-Hulman Merit Scholarship

All admitted students are automatically considered for the Rose-Hulman Merit Scholarship, which is awarded to students based on a number of factors both academic and non-academic. Two criteria are used to determine the award:

• Academic measures. These include the quality of the high school curriculum you pursued, class rank and size (if applicable), and test scores.
• Non-academic measures. These typically center around, but are not limited to, extracurricular activities, leadership and community service.

Rose-Hulman Need-Based Grant

Rose-Hulman need-based aid is determined by the FAFSA that is filed every year starting in January. Each year the need-based aid is reevaluated to determine the new award for the next year.

Rose-BUD Scholarship

The goal of the Rose Building Undergraduate Diversity (ROSE-BUD) program is to broaden the participation of academically talented students majoring in electrical and computer engineering. The program is part of National Science Foundation's efforts to encourage more students toward careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Students may receive up to $10,000 per year to support academic scholarship.

Eligibility

One of the goals of the program is to build diversity among electrical and computer engineering students. The ROSE-BUD program is a scholarship program available to academically talented students majoring in electrical or computer engineering who demonstrate a financial need with special emphasis on women and minorities.

Eligible students are freshmen or transfer students with a demonstrated financial need who have been accepted to Rose-Hulman. Through the generosity of the National Science Foundation, the ROSE-BUD program will provide financial support, advising, mentoring, networking and professional development. To be eligible for the ROSE-BUD Scholarship Program students must meet the following criteria:

• Be a US citizen or permanent resident.
• Major in Electrical or Computer Engineering at Rose-Hulman.
• Demonstrate high academic qualification and professionalism.
• Be eligible to receive federal financial aid and demonstrate an unmet need of at least $4,000 based on the Cost of Attendance (COA) minus the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

First Robotics Scholarship

In support of the FIRST mission, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is offering three merit-based scholarships, each for $10,000, to high school seniors who have participated on a FIRST team during their school career.  This scholarship may be applied to any undergraduate course of study at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.  The scholarship is renewable up to a total of $40,000 over four years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.  Each recipient must meet the regular academic requirements for admission to the Institute.  If interested, please print the application for the First Robotics Scholarship.

Rose-Hulman Named Scholarships

Rose-Hulman Named Scholarships are limited in number and have specific restrictions placed on them by the donor. All students who meet eligibility requirements for these awards will automatically be considered. In most cases, the Rose-Hulman Financial Aid Committee will award these scholarships based on the information provided in your admission file.

Cary Weldy Annual Scholarship

Rose-Hulman offers an annual scholarship for students who are openly LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered).  The student must show leadership abilities with a vision for making the world a better place.  The scholarship is worth at least $6,000 for one year.  If you are interested in the scholarship, please print out the Weldy Scholarship Application and mail to the address provided.

Trueb Scholarship

The Trueb Scholarship is a one-year scholarship available to one freshmen who has participated in Boy Scouts.  If you have been involved in Boy Scounts and would like to apply for this scholarship, please print out the Trueb Scholarship Application and mail to the address provided.

Agnes Varis Scholarship

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is offering a$25,000 non-renewable scholarship for a female who is seeking a world-class engineering, mathematics, or science education from Rose-Hulman and has participated on a FIRST team.  The scholarship committee will consider both academic merit and financial need when selecting a recipient.  Each recipient must meet the regular academic requirements for admission to the Institute.  To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:  Be a female, Be senior in high school or a college student, Have participate on a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team or a FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team sometime during high school. Please print out the Agnes Varis Scholarship Application and mail to the address provided.

Half Tuition Scholarship for Any Major

Half Tuition Scholarship, renewable for 3 years, will be awarded to a transfer student with a minimum GPA of a 3.00.  Students that apply for admission will automatically be considered.  Scholars will retain their scholarships as long as they maintain a GPA greater than 2.75 and full time enrollment at RHIT.

Full Tuition Scholarship for Electrical and Computer Engineering Majors

Full Tuition Scholarship, renewable for 3 years, will be awarded to a transfer student majoring in Electrical or Computer Engineering.  Students that apply for admission, have a minimum 3.00 GPA and indicate Electrical and Computer Engineering as a major will automatically be considered.  Scholars will retain their scholarships as long as they maintain a GPA greater than 2.75 adn full-time enrollment at RHIT.

ROSE-BUD Scholarship Program

Open to all transfer students majoring in Electrical or Computer Engineering.  The maximum ROSE-BUD scholarship is $10,000 per academic year and the amount awarded will be based on the ROSE-BUD application in conjunction with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the RHIT admission applicatioin.  ROSE-BUD Scholars will retain their scholarships as long as they maintain a GPA greater than 2.75 and full-time enrollment at RHIT.  Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for the ROSE-BUD Scholarship.
