Get a summer job with real meaning
While lifeguarding or
making fancy coffee drinks might be fun summer jobs, they won't
really help you get ready for your post-graduation career. Instead,
why not check into a summer internship that will let you put your
classroom knowledge into practice? Rose-Hulman summer interns get
paid really well, and employers trust them with real projects. You
aren't hired to grab doughnuts and coffee for the people really
doing the work!
How do you find an internship? Start with eRecruiting. Many
companies use this service to post summer internships. You might
also meet a potential internship employer at one of our three
Career Fairs during the year. Your professors may know of
internship possibilities, and you could also check with employers
in your hometown (that could make your parents happy to have you
back for the summer!). You are not required to complete any special
paperwork after an internship, but we do ask that you complete the
online Internship Report Form so that
we know where you're interning.
There are two special internships funded by the Lilly Endowment:
Entrepreneurial Internship Program (EIP) and Biomedical Engineering
(BE) Internship Program. These internships take place in Indiana
companies that have been approved for the program. Stop by the
Career Services Office or contact Kathy Kassissieh
to find out about opportunities in these two programs.
