Erin O’Connor Named
Rose-Hulman Homecoming QueenErin O’Connor of Louisville, Ky.,
was crowned Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s homecoming queen by
university President Gerald Jakubowski during this year's homecoming pep
rally on Oct. 6 at Cook Stadium. She reigned over more than 45
homecoming events throughout the weekend.
O’Connor, a senior biomedical engineering major, was nominated by the
Adelphia student organization. Her escort was Ben Braun, a senior
electrical engineering major from Cloquet, Minn.
O’Connor is a resident assistant and former sophomore advisor on
Rose-Hulman’s residence life staff. She is also a member of the cycling
club, Resident Hall Association and ballroom dancing club. She was a
member of the varsity swimming team for three years and now is a member
of the cross country team. O’Connor combined her athletic interests to
form a triathlon group last spring. She will be commissioned as a second
lieutenant in the Air Force next spring and will have four years of
active duty after graduation.
The homecoming queen contest was organized by the Blue Key Honor
Society. Other finalists were seniors Jennifer Frey of Harrison, Ohio;
and Bridget Mayer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and juniors Jill DeClerk
of Palatine, Ill.; Brittany McGowan of Gurnee, Ill.; and Samantha Sheets
of Milford, Ohio.
