Nine Students Identified With Influenza-Like Illness
|
|
|
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s Office of Health Services has
identified nine students with influenza-like illness on campus this week.
Appropriate measures are being taken to deal with the ill students,
according to Pete Gustafson, vice president for student affairs. Two cases
each were reported on Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct. 20 and 21), four were
reported on Thursday (Oct. 22), and one was reported on Friday (Oct. 23).
Information about the disease and precautions that can be taken to minimize
its impact is posted on the Rose-Hulman Web site at
http://www.rose-hulman.edu/news/articles/fluletter.htm.
In addition to the various communications about the disease, Rose-Hulman
has:
- Installed hand sanitizers throughout campus;
- Designated areas of isolation for students who might become infected and
are unable to go home;
- Established communication policies to notify the campus community and
parents of students about the status of any cases reported on campus; and
- Circulated policies that deal with missed labs and classes emanating from
a flu-like illness
