FRIDAY, APRIL 25
Drama Club Musical, “Once Upon A Mattress”
7:30 p.m., Hatfield Hall Theater
Drama Club members will be presenting the first of two shows this weekend.  See description on next page.  Tickets are $12 for all guests, $10 for non-RHIT students and youths, and free for Rose-Hulman students.  Reservations required, with seating being reserved.

Rose-Hulman’s bookstore is well-stocked with commencement gift ideas for those parents wanting to make purchases.

Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

Intramural Fields, East of Tennis Complex

The Parents’ Association booth will be the place to jump start your day with coffee and fellowship, get your Mom’s Day button and get information about the day’s activities.

Chair Massages for Mom
9 a.m.-Noon/1-5 p.m., Reading Room, Hulman Union
Mothers can enjoy a free, relaxing 15-minute personal chair massage session -- by appointment -- during the day.  Sign up at the Mom’s Day Booth in the Hulman Union.

  * Job Market Update
    9-10 a.m., Kahn Rooms, Hulman Union
Kevin Hewerdine, Director of Career Services and Employer Relations, will provide an update on students’ job placement efforts and discuss how the office helps students take advantage of career opportunities.  Limited to 300 persons.  Reservations are required.
     
  * Alumni Panel
    10-10:50 a.m., Kahn Rooms, Hulman Union
Rose-Hulman’s Career Achievement Award winners will  discuss the value of their educations in their careers.  Panelists, all 1988 graduates, will be Doug Ankney, Global Director of Manufacturing for Milliken; William Parrish, President/Owner of Real World Solutions; Andy Williams, Vice President/General Manager with ON Semiconductor; and Nathan Wright, Principal of Texas Pacific Group.  Limited to 300 persons.  Reservations required.
     
  * Gourmet On A Budget
    11-11:55 a.m., Faculty Dining Room, Hulman Union
Aramark Dining Service Catering Manager Ryan Rogers and Chef Pat Kelly will share secrets to dress up your casual meals, making them go from good to great. Seating is limited to 70 persons. Reservations required.
     
  * Applied Biology & Biomedical Engineering Senior Thesis Seminar

Four Applied Biology seniors will present results of their year-long research projects:
  • Jill Floyd will speak on "Degree of Foraging in the Mayapple, Podophyllum Peltatum."
  • Amy Schnegg will describe "Culturing Amoebocytes from the Gill Lamellae."
  • Melissa Chrisman's work on evolutionary relationships between yeast and humans will be highlighted in her presentation on "Functional Substitution of Yeast Ribosomal Protein with Homologues."
  • Cherie Garvis will end with "Analyzing the Bacteria Population of the J.I. Case Wetland."

Professor Ella Ingram will moderate.

Mom’s Day Brunch
11a.m.-1 p.m., Dining Room, Hulman Union
Enjoy a leisurely lunch on campus, just like students. No reservations necessary.
Cost: $5 per person. Pay at the door.

Baseball, Rose-Hulman vs. Hanover
1 p.m., Art Nehf Field
The Engineers will host a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference double-header against Indiana rival Hanover College. Admission is free. Just show up and catch a few innings or both games of this important series. (A single nine-inning game is scheduled on April 25, starting at 7 p.m.)

Art Tours
1:30-3 p.m., Lobby, Hulman Union
Coordinator of Arts Programming/Art Curator Steve Letsinger will give parents a guided tour of Rose-Hulman’s spring art exhibits and other artworks throughout campus which help bring out our students’ creativity. Limited to 20 persons. Reservations required.

“The Price Is Rite”
3 p.m., Kahn Rooms, Hulman Union
Come on down! The Student Activities Board will host its popular game show, with selected parents given the chance to win prizes in fun-filled games -- just like the real thing! There is no charge, but seating is limited to 300 persons. Reservations required.

Mom's Day Dinner
5-6:30 p.m., Main Dining Room, Hulman Union
Families of Rose-Hulman students will be treated to a special dinner.
       The meal will include:
  Chicken Parmesan Dinner Rolls/Butter
  Pasta with sauce Apple or Cherry Pie Slice
  Green Beans Coffee/Tea/Water
  Tossed Garden Salad with dressings.    
   
  (Vegetarian meal available -- Eggplant Parmesan. Please indicate on reservation)
   
Each dinner costs $17.00 per adult and RHIT student; $8.50 for children (under 11 years old). Reservations required.
 
  President Speaking
    President Gerald Jakubowski will update parents on what’s been happening on campus.
     
  Jazz Band Performing
    The Rose-Hulman Jazz Band, directed by Gary Turner, will set the mood for the evening with popular jazz selections.
     
  Honoring A Special Woman
    The Parents’ Association will present the Joy Hulbert Outstanding Service Award to a woman who demonstrates support to the college.

Drama Club Musical, "Once Upon A Mattress"
7:30 p.m., Hatfield Hall Theater
The Rose-Hulman Drama Club will present this hilarious musical tweaking of the fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea”.  Follow Princess Winnifred in her quest for the heart of Prince Dauntless.  The musical features a charming score and whimsical, albeit unconventional, interpretation of Hans Christian Anderson's beloved story.

The production is being directed by Bunny Nash, and will feature a dazzling set, built by technical director Greg Stump and his student crew.

The pit orchestra will be conducted by Band Director Gary Turner, while the cast’s vocal skills have been nurtured by Chorus Director David Gibbs.

Ticket Information: Tickets are $12 for all guests, $10 for non-RHIT students and youths, and free for RHIT students. Reservations required, with seating being reserved -- See Reservation Page.
There will be no guarantees of a ticket without a reservation!
