General Information

With
24 full-time faculty and over 150
courses listed
in the
Undergraduate
Bulletin, the
Department of
Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest
academic department at Rose-Hulman.
 |
A
wide variety of courses are offered in
the
department, encompassing a combination of traditional
and technology- related liberal education courses.
Every student at Rose-Hulman completes at least nine
courses in the humanities and social sciences, about
18% of the typical course of study.
 |
The
department offers an economics degree, a
certificate of proficiency in
technical translation in
German, a management studies certificate, and
area
minors
in 16 different areas.

Mission
Statement
 |
To enable
our students to become creative,
sophisticated thinkers, active citizens,
and effective leaders in the global
community, the department contributes to
a broad liberal education, introducing
students to a wide array of disciplines
and traditions in the humanities and
social sciences. In doing so, it
provides learning experiences that, in
addition to their intrinsic value,
enrich a scientific and technical
education.
