blue dot The Area Minor in Science, Technology, and Society  has the following requirements:
  1. Six courses in Science, Technology, and Society distributed as follows:
    • Two of the following core courses.
      • VA303 Business and Engineering Ethics
      • GL306 Japanese Values and Technological Development
      • VA328 Nuclear Weapons and the Modern World
      • VA354 Environmental Economics
      • SL366 America's Future
    • Four additional courses from either the core list above or the following:
      • VA304 Medical Ethics
      • GL423 American Arms and Strategy
      • GL237 Science Fiction
      • RH330 Technical Communication
      • SL333 Death and Dying
      • VA336 Ethics in Human Communication
      • RH339 Communication in Action: Engineering and Science
      • VA491 Technology Management and Forecasting
    • With the approval of the STS Area Minor Adviser, certain topics or other courses may be substituted for the courses listed above.
          
  2. One HSS course in addition to those needed to satisfy the regular HSS requirements. This means a minimum of 40 credits in HSS must be earned.
