Dr. Luchen Li

Biography

Dr. Luchen Li serves as the first Associate Dean of Global Programs at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Dr. Li joined Rose-Hulman in 2011 bringing wide-ranging experience in academic disciplines and deep knowledge of international education developed from 22 years of research, strategic planning and program development, and teaching at home and abroad. Li is currently providing leadership and support in developing an institute-wide plan to formulate and implement strategic initiatives for its global programs.

Li has demonstrated leadership in building successful international programs for collaborative research, recruitment, study abroad, and student exchange. He initiated and launched dual-degree programs with international institutions and built and coordinated international professional training programs with foreign governments and overseas industries. Dr. Li has transformed two institutions’ international programs by integrating global education into academic curricula, faculty research, student learning, and fundraising. Dr. Li remains current in government regulatory issues involving SEVIS.

Dr. Li has published extensively in literary, cultural, and cross-cultural studies. Publications include books, John Steinbeck’s Global Dimensions, John Steinbeck: A Documentary Volume, Critical Companion to John Steinbeck, and numerous book chapters and articles in literary and cultural studies. Professor Li serves as Vice President of the John Steinbeck Society of America and is an editorial contributor of the Steinbeck Review.

With a track record of performance in international education and extensive experience in academics, Dr. Li has been invited as a keynote speaker to share his experience and philosophy in international education and cross-cultural understandings at national and international symposiums and conferences for the past two decades.
