Volleyball team finishes eighth in first SCAC season


Rose-Hulman’s volleyball team finished with a 6-31 record and an eighth-place finish in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Engineers opened with a 2-2 record and ended strongly with wins over Franklin College and the University of the South in the season’s final week. Rose-Hulman also hosted the 1998 SCAC Volleyball Championship as part of the league’s Fall Sports Festival.

Freshman Jennifer Krause set a school record with 382 kills in her first collegiate season and led the Engineers with 109 total blocks. Freshman Michelle Unger set another school record with 443 digs this season. Junior Kate Buchanan led the Engineers with 601 assists and 52 service aces in 1998.
