Winter 1998

Soccer competes with nation's best

Rose-Hulman’s men’s soccer team finished its inaugural SCAC season with a record of 5-12-1, including an 0-8-1 mark in SCAC contests. The Engineers were competitive throughout the season, however, losing five games by one goal each in 1998.

Rose-Hulman played a difficult schedule, battling five teams that qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament. Rose-Hulman’s season was highlighted with a 2-1 overtime victory against Wabash, when freshman John Fell scored the winning goal in the 114th minute. Fell led the Engineers with seven goals this season, while junior Keoni Sundseth added four goals and five assists for 11 points. Junior midfielder Neil Kaszubski was named to the 1998 all-SCAC second-team squad after recording three goals and six assists (12 points) this season.
