Rose-Hulman receives quality improvement award from state
The State of Indiana has honored Rose-Hulman for quality improvement.
Rose-Hulman was one of several organizations that received the 1997 State of Indiana Quality Improvement Award from Lt. Gov. Joe Kernan during Indiana Quality Day ceremonies in October at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
This year's winners and previous recipients of the award represent less than one percent of Indiana businesses.
Rose-Hulman was honored for its continuous improvement in academic programs, student retention, recruitment of academically talented students, strategic planning and service to Indiana businesses and industry.
"The organizations who qualify for the award are leading Indiana into the future, and they are leading by example," said Kernan, who directs the Indiana Department of Commerce.
Rose-Hulman President Samuel Hulbert said, "This award is the result of the entire Rose-Hulman community's commitment to continuous improvement.
To be selected among the top one percent of Indiana organizations is recognition that will serve as an incentive for us to achieve future goals.
We're honored that the State of Indiana has selected Rose-Hulman as one of the first educational institutions to receive this award," Hulbert stated.
The awards are administered by the Indiana Business Modernization and Technology Corporation (BMT). The recognition program is part of the state government's commitment to support Hoosier companies and organizations in their quest for excellence.
"Ours is a shrinking world where new standards of quality are driving organizational performance and competitiveness," stated Del Schuh, BMT President. "The award sends a positive message to all Hoosiers, and those beyond our borders, that in Indiana quality counts."
Any company or organization located in Indiana or with operations based in the state can apply for the Quality Improvement Award.
