Rose-Hulman senior hurdler Phil Reksel capped his historic career with a fifth-place
finish in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles competition to earn his fourth career
All-American honor at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National
Championships. He also was named a GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning third team,
spring at-large honors. Reksel charged into second place in the final 100 meters of the race before clipping a
hurdle and falling into fifth with a time of 52.40 seconds. He entered the finals as the
No. 1 seed after running a time of 51.63 seconds in the qualifying round. Reksel placed fifth in an NCAA III National Championship for the third time in his
career. He finished fifth in the 400-meter dash at the 1999 NCAA III Indoor Championships
and placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1998 Outdoor Championships. Reksel
finished fourth in the 400-meter dash at the 2000 Indoor Championships. Reksel graduates with seven Rose-Hulman school records and ranks in the top five in 15
track categories. He holds school outdoor records in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter
intermediate hurdles and 400-meter dash. Reksel holds indoor school marks in the 200-,
400-, 500- and 600-meter dashes. |
