Pete Gustafson is the new vice president of student affairs and dean of students, while Tom Miller has been elevated to associate dean of students, and Donna Gustafson is the new associate dean of student services. New additions to the staff are Erik Hayes (Mech. Eng., 97) as director of residence life; Chris Inman (Mech. Eng., 00), residence life and learning center program coordinator; Matt Kuester (Mech. Eng., 00), residence life area coordinator; and Heather Dalton, assistant director of student activities. Pete Gustafson has been a member of the student affairs staff for 23 years, serving most recently as assistant vice president of student affairs. He has overseen student life, residence halls, bookstore and student organization programs. Those responsibilities will now expand to include administration of financial aid, career services, campus security, athletics and student health services. Recipient of the Presidents Outstanding Service Award in 1983, Gustafson formerly worked in student affairs at Indiana State University and Urbana College. He earned bachelor and master degrees from Bowling Green State University. Millers administrative change will mean his family will move off campus after 20 years of living in the Speed residence hall. He has been on-call 24 hours a day to help students and parents as director of residence life, coordinator of summer programs and assistant dean of student affairs. The Decatur, Ill., native received the Presidents Outstanding Service Award in 1989 and earned a Terre Award, the communitys highest volunteer service award for his support of local community agencies. Donna Gustafson has been director of the Hulman Union and student activities office since 1977. She received the outstanding service award in 1987. Hayes will take Millers place living in Speed Hall. He served as residence hall adviser in Baur-Sames-Bogart Hall in 1996 and 1997 after being a sophomore adviser. He is completing work on a masters degree in mechanical engineering at Rose-Hulman. Inman and Kuester are former residence assistants who will live on campus while enrolled in graduate school at Rose-Hulman. Inman will supervise advisory staff and assist Learning Center activities in the new residence hall. Kuester will be on-call in Scharpenberg Hall and assist in student life services. Dalton has been collegiate services assistant for Alpha Chi Omegas national office in Indianapolis. She is a 1998 graduate of Indiana State University. |
