Valentine captures first all-American swimming awards



Senior Sean Valentine finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke finals at the NCAA III Swimming National Championships during March to earn the first two swimming All-American awards in school history this year.

Valentine recorded a career-best and SCAC record time of 20.50 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle to claim fourth-place honors and become the school’s first ever swimming All-American.

Valentine finished the breaststroke competition in a school-record time of 56.35 seconds to finish sixth in the nation. He qualified fifth for the championship meet in a preliminary time of 56.69 seconds.

Because of Valentine’s efforts, Rose-Hulman finished 26th in the team portion of the championships. Rose-Hulman finished second among SCAC schools, behind 24th place University of the South.
