Teams of senior civil engineering students from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology have spent the 1998-99 school year studying the levee system for the Broad Ripple area in Indianapolis, investigating the Crane Naval Warfare Center and developing a master plan for the Linden Railroad Museum. Oral reports in these areas were recently presented at the spring meeting of the Indianapolis branch of American Society of Civil Engineers. The Broad Ripple project studied the status of the levee system protecting the Broad Ripple area from flooding caused by the White River. The Crane project required field inspections, structural calculations, and a database for inventory purposes. Meanwhile, the Linden Railroad Museum project involved site development, stormwater management and parking plans. Robert Houghtalen, professor of civil engineering, oversees the senior design program. |
