Academic reputation, job placement key to freshmen

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's academic reputation, excellent job placement and quality graduate school opportunities were the top three reasons members of this year's freshman class decided to attend the college, according to their results in a national freshman class survey conducted by UCLA.

Other deciding factors included the size of the college, Rose-Hulman's high standing in national rankings, and Rose-Hulman's growing national reputation in magazines and academic journals.

When compared with other freshmen attending college, Rose-Hulman students rated themselves above average in their academic abilities, competitiveness, drive to achieve, and intellectual self confidence.

In Rose-Hulman's annual freshman class poll, conducted during the fall quarter, students' opinions were surveyed on the most positive and negative aspects of Rose-Hulman. The quality of professors, the college's comfortable atmosphere, small size and quality of students were high on the positive side. Meanwhile, the difficulty of classes and workload were tops in the negative category.
