Reeves’ successor brings wealth of experience


Darrell Loyless brings 23 years of successful private college institutional advancement experience to Rose-Hulman when he becomes vice president for development and external affairs on July 1.

For the past nine years, he has served as vice president for institutional advancement at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. Loyless has been responsible for the college’s development, public relations, alumni relations, admissions and financial aid programs.

In 1995, Lyon College launched an $80 million comprehensive development campaign. The campaign is on schedule to fund campus facility improvements, and increase the college’s endowment.

Loyless was honored as the National Society of Fund-Raising Executives Fund Raiser-of-the-Year in 1994. He also serves on the national Board of Directors of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

Prior to joining the Lyon College administration, Loyless was vice president of Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana for nine years. He also served as associate professor and chairman of Centenary College’s Department of History and Government.

Loyless earned the Ph.D. in government from American University, the M.S. degree in government from Texas A&M University, and the B.S. degree in government and history from the University of Texas.

He and his wife, Carol, are the parents of two children, David, 22, and Elizabeth, 19.
