Keeping Track


All-American finishes

    Senior pole vaulter Ryan Loftus followed up his national championship performance in the NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships by earning All-American honors at the outdoor NCAA III Champion-ships. Loftus finished second with a vault of 16’ 2 3/4”. Senior Nathan Subbert also earned All-American honors with an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw, with a school record toss of 172’ 8”. Sophomore Phil Reksel became Rose-Hulman’s third All-American this spring by finishing fifth in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles.

    The Engineers hosted the annual ICAC track and field meet, finishing fourth. Reksel won conference titles in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles, Subbert brought home the hammer championship, and Loftus won the pole vault competition.

 

Fulk, Hoffmann, Nixon and Hudson set new records for women’s team

    Senior Kathy Hoffmann, junior Jeanne Hudson and sophomores Bessie Fulk and Beth Nixon each earned varsity letters for their performances. Hoffmann leaves Rose-Hulman with school records in the 100- and 200-meter dash events, while Fulk set four school records this spring. Nixon set the Rose-Hulman shot put record with a throw of 34’ 10” and Hudson set a new high jump standard.
