Hossein Hariri selected to head chemical engineering

Hossein Hariri has been selected as the new head of the Department of Chemical Engineering to succeed Noel Moore who has decided to relinquish the chairman’s responsibilities.

Moore has served as the department’s chairman since 1987 when Sam Hite stepped down after serving 21 years as head of the chemical engineering department. Moore, who began teaching at Rose-Hulman in 1968, will remain as a member of the chemical engineering faculty.

Hariri was appointed to the Rose-Hulman chemical engineering faculty in 1990. His areas of expertise and teaching interests include chemical process design, transport phenomena, air pollution control, and petroleum engineering.

Hariri joined the Rose-Hulman faculty after teaching in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology. He has been honored by IIT and the Olin Foundation for excellence in teaching.
