Abstract: Industry, Academia and Laboratories offer very different career opportunities to mathematicians. I will begin this talk discussing the differentiating characteristics of each with a focus on industry and laboratories. I will follow this with a discussion of what mathematicians actually do in industry. And finally, I will conclude with a few comments about what it takes to be successful as an industrial mathematician.
