The Department of Chemistry occupies classrooms, laboratories, and offices in Moench and Crapo Halls. An upcoming multimillion dollar renovation will provide remodeled and modernized classroom and laboratory facilities. The department boasts seven well- equipped laboratories and a complete stockroom staffed by two full-time technicians and several student employees. Modem instruments are found in the undergraduate research laboratories where chemistry majors are allowed to develop hands-on experience. As early as the freshman year, chemistry students develop skills at using and understanding these instruments and equipment that are the main stays
of industry and chemical research. Additional support is available from the IAIT Computing Center and the Logan Library on campus. Computing facilities from mainframe to microcomputers are available to all Rose-Hulman students for writing reports, analyzing data, and developing useful programs. The library provides an excellent technical collection, including many important chemical references and journals, in addition to inter-library loan and database search services.
