Our Chapter is very active.  We arrange several speakers, fieldtrips, service projects, and social events each year. Here is a list of some of our past activities:

 
Monthly Meeting - Green Design & Sustainability 5/02/07

Representatives from Storrow Kinsella presented on the necessity of green design and sustainability practices in all disciplines engaged in designing, renewing, and preserving our built and natural systems.

Youth Science Day 5/02/07

This annual program targeted at middle school students was a great success this year.  Our chapter set up a booth and made a presentation to the students to inform and get them excited about civil engineering. 

INDOT Maintenance Conference 5/03/07

Rose-Hulman, the CE department, and the Cecil T. Lobo student chapter hosted 150 INDOT Maintenance employees.  The event included a luncheon, tours of our facilities, and time for people to check out some highway construction equipment.

Wheelchair Ramp 5/04/07 - 5/05/07

This ramp was constructed at the 14th & Chestnut Community Center and now allows handicap access to the food pantry.  The student chapter provided design and construction for the project. 

YMG Social - Indians Game 5/07/07

Several student chapter members attended an Indianapolis Indians baseball game with members of the Indianapolis Younger Members Group. 

Civil Pride Friday 5/11/07

This event takes place once a month on a Friday.  Civil students are encouraged to wear their civil pride clothing and the student chapter sets out doughnuts and orange juice in the civil lounge.

Golf Tournament 5/12/07

The ASCE chapter’s annual charity golf tournament was a huge success this year.  We were able to donate $3000 to the Wabash Valley Habitat for Humanity chapter. 

Lucus Oil Structural Design Presentation 5/17/07

Mr. Andy Stoebner from Walter P. Moore & Associates made a presentation via teleconference on the structural design of the Lucas Oil Stadium: new home of the Indianapolis Colts.

SUMMER BREAK
Activities Fair 8/29/2007

ASCE members manned booths at the Rose-Hulman Activity Fair and signed up new members for ASCE and the Concrete Canoe Team..

Civil Pride Friday 9/07/2007

This event takes place once a month on a Friday.  Civil students are encouraged to wear their civil pride clothing and the student chapter sets out doughnuts and orange juice in the civil lounge.

Monthly Meeting - Dr. Niezgoda 9/12/2007

Dr. Niezgoda will present on her past educational and professional experiences during 5th period. Included will be an introduction to River Engineering and a case study.

Fall Cookout 9/14/07 Once a quarter the chapter hosts a cookout outside the soils lab.  Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to come out, have a burger, and spread civil pride!
Homecoming CE Open House 9/29/2007

Over 100 alumni, faculty, and students gathered in the soils lab for great food, networking, and reminiscing of old times.

13th Street Reconstruction 10/4/2007

This field trip was to the 13th Street Reconstruction Project in Terre Haute.  The project is part of Terre Haute’s recent focus on improving infrastructure.  Students were able to see the asphalt paving process.

Wheelchair Ramp 10/27/2007

This ramp was constructed for a 7-year-old boy, in conjunction with the local volunteer group "Ramp it Up".  The student chapter provided design and joined in a group effort with construction of the project. 

Explore Engineering Popsicle Stick Bridges 11/06/2007

This community service event was organized as part of a series of fun engineering events for elementary aged students.  Student chapter members assisted in this event as kids constructed and tested bridges made of popsicle sticks.

Winter Banquet 11/28/2007

The board of advisors, faculty, and students gathered for a delicious luncheon and great presentation by 2001 Rose graduate Tarelle Osborn, president of Osborne Consulting of Bellevue, WA.

Elections 12/3/07-12/6/07

New officers for the 2008 year were elected by ASCE members.

Intern Fair 12/12/07

Freshman and sophomore students gathered to meet with upperclassmen to gain knowledge and guidance on finding summer internships.

Indiana Section Meeting 3/19/08 Civil engineering students attended the Indiana Section Meeting in Carmel, Indiana. Here they were able to see real world projects and original presentations.
Wheelchair Ramp 3/22/08 Students gathered together this past Easter weekend to put together a wheelchair ramp for a local family.
SPRING BREAK
Monthly Meeting-Texas A&M 4/14/08 This was a presentation and discussion about graduate studies at the Texas A&M University
Exploring Engineering 4/15/08 This community service event was organized as part of a series of fun engineering events for elementary aged students. 
Civil Pride Friday 4/18/08 This event takes place once a month on a Friday.  Civil students are encouraged to wear their civil pride clothing and the student chapter sets out doughnuts and orange juice in the civil lounge.
Exotic Feline Rescue Center 4/20/08 Members went to the local exotic feline rescue center to lend a hand constructing a small shelter for the felines, while learning something new.
Exploring Engineering 4/22/08 This community service event was organized as part of a series of fun engineering events for elementary aged students.
Monthly Meeting - INDOT 4/23/08 INDOT came and presented to the local chapter.
Regional Conference 4/25/08-4/26/08 Members of our student chapter went to the University of Evansville to observe and compete in a number of events. Check the conference website, located on our "links" page, for the conference results.
Exploring Engineering 4/29/08 This community service event was organized as part of a series of fun engineering events for elementary aged students.
Spring Cookout 5/9/08 This event takes place once a year. Civil students come and take some time out of their day to relax, enjoy the weather, converse with each other, and eat some fresh cooked food.
Campus Beautification 5/3/08 Members of the chapter came together to help make the RHIT campus a bit more beautiful.
Monthly Meeting - Parsons Brinckerhoff 5/7/08
