Sept. 14, 2007 2007 Graduate School Fair – biggest ever 32 graduate programs from
universities around the country will be on campus Wednesday, September 19th
from 5:30pm to 8:00pm to discuss graduate school opportunities with interested
students. This will be our biggest Graduate School Fair ever, so be sure to
come out and welcome these visitors to our campus. ALL students are invited
to attend, so if you know graduate school is right for you, or even if
you’re not sure…come to the fair! We’ll be in the Union Lobby and Faculty
Dining Room. Click
here to see the list of attending programs. Last Chance for Senior Seminars! Our initial round of Senior
Seminars this year has been a success! If you were unable to make it to your
major’s scheduled seminar time, there are make-up sessions available. On
Monday, September 17th at 5:30pm or 6:45pm any Science senior can
attend a session in the Faculty Dining Room and any Engineering senior can
attend a session in the Heritage Room. Caterpillar Ramps up Recruiting at Rose Caterpillar has two events
approaching that you might want to take advantage of. September 18th
will be Caterpillar Day on campus! Caterpillar will have their show truck and
engine on display near Speed Hall and at 6pm in the GM Room they will be
holding an Information Session with pizza and refreshments. They will be
discussing their full-time and intern opportunities. Additionally,
Caterpillar will be hosting an on-site facility visit. Students are invited
to visit the Caterpillar facility in Peoria, Illinois on Wednesday,
September 26th. A bus will leave campus at 6am and return to
campus at 6pm. If you are interested in going, please come sign up in the
Career Services office. Co-op Workshops Gear Up with Guest
Speakers Our first Co-op Workshops of the
year will be Thursday, September 27th at 12:30pm and 5:30pm. If
you know you want to participate in co-op at Rose, or if you just want more information, these sessions will be
great ones to attend. Company representatives from General Electric and eON US will be attending to talk about the benefits
of co-op and their company-specific programs. Visit our Workshop
schedule for details on other co-op workshops that are scheduled. eRecruiting Speedbump If you have logged into eRecruiting in the last week, you will notice that you were prompted to update some of your profile information. We will be resetting this “speedbump” each quarter to help you keep yourself as up to date as possible. It is vital that you update your status (class standing) and other information in the system so that your resume can be sent to companies when they request resumes to identify potential candidates. One of the new profile features you may have noticed is “Job Intent”. This function allows you to tell us what you are looking for at this time, and will help us to include your resume in the proper resume referrals to companies. Resumes, Resume Books and Resume Referrals You’ve probably heard a lot of
talk about the need to get your resume updated and uploaded into eRecruiting
as soon as possible. Without having an updated resume in the system, you
risk missing the opportunity to be seen and seriously considered by many
companies. In the next two weeks, we will begin sending resume referrals to
companies who are planning to attend the Fall Career Fair. Make sure your
primary resume in the system is the most current one you have. Resume
Referrals are our way of assisting you to gain exposure with interested
companies. There have also been many questions about the Resume Books
feature of eRecruiting. We do not use this feature of the system, so when
you update your resume and profile, you do not have to worry about
publishing it to a Resume Book. Career Services Plans Open House Mark Friday, September 28th
on your calendar and make plans to visit Career Services during the hours of
noon and 2pm. We will be having an Open House to showcase our services and
show off our newly organized career library. We will also have our new
practice interview system ready! While you are here, you can grab a quick
snack and also enter to win one of two $50.00 gift certificates to the
Bookstore! |
