What’s This?!

Welcome to the first issue of the Career Services eNewsletter! This publication will be emailed to you every other week. It will be a quick and easy way to keep up to date on what is going on in Career Services, and what you need to know about your job hunt or grad school search.

Say Hello to eRecruiting

Freshmen will be learning more about eRecruiting in a few weeks during their College and Life Skills class, but everyone else should be logging in to update their profiles as soon as possible. You need to update your GPA, your status (class standing), and upload a new resume. The career fair is early this year, so be ready for it!

We’ve heard your voice!

We have a new way of letting you know about co-op, intern and full-time opportunities that may be a match for you. Gone are the days of daily emails about job application deadlines on eRecruiting! Now you will get one email each week telling you about all opportunities that target your major. The emails will go out on Fridays and indicate available opportunities with deadlines during the following week.

Attention Seniors…

It’s Senior Seminar Time! Make room on your schedule to attend one of the Senior Seminars planned for the second week of September. Workshops are broken down by major. Visit the workshop schedule on our website to find out when you need to attend.

2007 Graduate School Fair – September 19th

Whether you are a freshman just joining the Rose family or a senior making plans for after graduation, the Graduate School Fair is a great place to get information on different programs and the process of applying to graduate school. A separate Seminar will occur later this quarter, but you can start getting ready for the fair now. It takes place Wed. Sept. 19th in the Hulman Union. Click here for more info. Two other events you might want to check out are the Big 10+ Graduate School Expo held Mon. Sept 24th at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and Law Day 2007 on Thur. Sept. 20th at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

New Practice Interview System ready in 2 weeks!

Last year we began offering a new practice interview system to help you practice and prepare for on-campus interviews and site visits. There are hundreds of questions to choose from and this year the whole system is even better. We’ve built a new room for the practice interviews so you will have privacy when you come in, and the system is being upgraded. The new system should be up and running in two weeks. Watch for more details!

Career Fair comes early this year – October 3rd

The 2007 Fall Career Fair will take place on October 3rd. This is two weeks earlier than usual, so don’t wait to come in and see us about your resume. The two days prior to the fair are busy in our office, so plan ahead to get your resume critiqued. Consider checking the workshop schedule for our workshops on “How to Work the Career Fair”. You will also notice that the part of our website that indicates what companies are attending the fair now has the ability to search companies for specific majors! Companies are still being added, so check it next week for the most updated list.
