CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology handed the College of Mount St. Joseph its first loss of
the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball season with
a tightly contested three-set victory on Thursday.
Rose-Hulman improved to 4-1 in league play and dropped Mount St. Joseph to 5-1 in conference matches with the 28-26, 29-27, 26-24 decision. Each set went beyond its scheduled distance of 25 points due to the competitiveness of the match.
Senior Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) smashed 13 kills with 11 digs to lead the offensive effort. Junior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) added 10 kills and eight digs.
Junior Kira Boswell (Ames, Iowa) led the team with 23 assists, and freshman Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) pitchd in with 18 assists and seven kills.
Junior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) led the team with 15 digs, and junior Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio/Oldenburg Academy) pitched in with nine kills. Freshman Claire Raycraft (Decatur, Ill./St. Teresa) paced the squad with three block assists.
Rose-Hulman improved to 15-7 overall and puts its 4-1 conference record on the line at Franklin College on Friday night.
