
TERRE HAUTE, IND.-- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team defeated Manchester College in four sets to improve to 4-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches.
Rose-Hulman won the first set 25-9 before dropping the second set 22-25. The Engineers then rebounded to take the next two sets 25-18 and 25-21.
The Engineers were led by senior Leah Pelzel (Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) who recorded a triple-double on the day. Pelzel had 10 kills, and 13 digs on the day. She also led the team with 28 assists.
Senior Morgan Williams (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic) led the team with 12 kills. Sophomore Kira Boswell (Ames, Iowa) record 14 digs.
Junior Erika McGuire (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) led the defensive effort with 18 digs, while sophomore Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) chipped in with 10.
Rose-Hulman improved to 14-6 on the season and 4-1 in HCAC play. Manchester falls to 11-11, 0-5 in league action.
Rose-Hulman returns to action Friday and will face Illinois Wesleyan University and Hope College in Michigan.
