                       WILMINGTON

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opened its 2011 Invitational with a 25-11, 25-12, 25-11 victory over Ohio Wesleyan and a 25-8, 25-12, 25-6 win over Wilmington on Saturday.

Senior Karah Hickman (Hobart, Ind.) led the Engineers over Ohio Wesleyan with eight kills on ten attacks.  Senior Leah Pelzel (Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) added 13 assists in the match, while sophomore Catherine Pfaadt (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) led the defense with nine digs.

Rose-Hulman set a school record in the second match by hitting .585 against Wilmington.  Hickman again led the attack, going 10-for-10 on kills.  She finished the day recording  a .900 hitting percentage by killing 18 of 20 attacks.  Senior Morgan Williams (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic) chipped in with nine kills.

Pelzel again led the team with 18 assists and also led the team with six service aces and 10 digs.  Sophomore Kira Boswell (Ames, Iowa) added 13 assists with four aces.   

Rose-Hulman improved to 5-3 on the season and returns to action against DePauw and Eureka on Sunday.
