MEET RESULTS

coleman-sprintTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology recorded 19 top-10 finishes in the Monmouth Invitational, featuring NCAA Division I, II and nationally respected Division III teams, on Saturday.

Senior Sutton Coleman (Lebanon, Va.) led the Fightin' Engineers with a pair of first-place efforts and one school record.  Coleman set the 200-meter school record with a time of 22.21 seconds to break a 12-year record held by All-American Phil Reksel.

Coleman's second victory came in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.13 seconds, the second-best mark of his career that features four All-American awards.

Senior Jeremiah Edwards (Indianapolis/Lawrence North) set a school record and came home third in the 60-meter dash.  Edwards ran a time of 7.00 seconds in the semifinal round to top his own mark by .01 seconds.

The Fightin' Engineers established one other school record on the day.  Sophomore Gloria Boxell (Zionsville/Covenant Christian) snapped her own mark in the 60-meter high hurdles to place 10th overall in 9.75 seconds. 

Sophomore Charles Phillips (Batavia, Ill.) pitched in with a third-place finish in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:58.46.

The women's 4-x-200 meter relay and the men's 4-x-200 meter relay added top-five finishes.  The women's team of sophomore Erin Cox (West Harrison/Franklin County), Boxell, junior Abby Sowers (Delaware, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and junior Creasy Clauser (Crawfordsville/Southmont) came home third in a time of 1:49.78 that ranks second in school history.  The men's tandem of junior Tyler Hannan (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark), junior Travis Stallings (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain), sophomore Clay Becker (Gaylord, Mich./St. Mary's Cathedral) and sophomore Philip Koranteng (Sterling, Va./Dominion) placed fourth in 1:32.88.

Sixth-place finishers include Koranteng in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.70 seconds, and sophomore Luke Winningham (Indianapolis/Roncalli) with a shot put toss of 46' 8".  Senior P.J. Schulthies (Dubois/Northeast Dubois) added a seventh in the high jump with a leap of 5' 10 3/4".

Rose-Hulman's performance included four eighth-place finishes.  Clauser narrowly missed her own school record with a 400-meter dash time of 1:00.23.  Junior Trey Cahill (Auburn/DeKalb) recorded a weight throw toss of 49' 0 3/4", and sophomore Nathan Catt (Greenwood/Center Grove) was eighth in the 800-meter run (1:59.50).  Hannan rounded out the eighth-place finishes with a 200-meter dash time of 23.06.

Stallings pitched in with a ninth-place effort in the triple jump (40' 4 3/4") and a 10th in the 60-meter dash (7.17 seconds).

Tenth-place finishers included Becker in the 200-meter dash (23.09 seconds); junior Chris Good (Bloomington/Edgewood) in the high jump (5' 8 3/4"); and Schulthies in the men's shot put (45' 5 3/4").

Rose-Hulman hosts the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at the Sports and Recreation Center next Saturday.  Events begin at 1 p.m., with the awards ceremony and wrap-up scheduled for 8 p.m.
