GREENCASTLE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology track and field teams combined for five event victories
and 13 top-five performances at the DePauw University Invitational
Despite extremely windy conditions, Rose-Hulman
student-athletes also combined for one NCAA Division III automatic
national qualifying performance and one provisional
Sophomore Liz Evans (Bicknell/North Knox)
(pictured) earned NCAA Division III automatic
qualification honors after winning the women's high jump with a
leap of 5' 7 3/4". Evans, the reigning indoor national
champion in the high jump, earned runner-up honors at the NCAA
Outdoor Nationals in 2010.
Junior Sutton Coleman (Lebanon, Va.)
improved his Division III provisional national qualification mark
in the 110-hurdles for the day's second win. Coleman dropped
his season best time to 14.76, and his marked ranked No. 2
nationally in NCAA Division III this week.
Senior Tyler Kreipke (Zionsville) added a
victory in the 5,000-meter run with the fourth best time in school
Sophomore Collin Crowson (Dublin,
Ohio/Jerome) rounded out the individual winners with a
pole vault leap of 15' 1".
The men's 4-x-400 meter relay squad added the final
victory of the day for Rose-Hulman. Team members included
sophomore Brent Austgen (Cedar Lake/Hanover
Central), senior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles,
Ill./Burlington Central), sophomore Tyler Hannan
(Winchester/George Rogers Clark) and Coleman, who ran a
time of 3:21.59 that should rank in the top 10 nationally this
Senior Derek Bischak (Angola) contributed
a strong second place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of
1:58.77. Sophomore Creasy Clauser
(Crawfordsville/Southmont) contributed a strong third
place in the women's 400-meter dash (1:02.03).
Senior Isaac Stockrahm (Scottsburg/ Salem)
also contributed a fourth-place finish in the pole vault (14' 1
Fifth-place finishers for Rose-Hulman included sophomore
Kevin Dickson (Grayslake, Ill.) in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase (10:30.08); Bouagnon in the 400-meter dash
(50.64); sophomore Greg Larmore (Deerfield,
Ill.) in the men's discus throw (142' 3"); and sophomore
Travis Stallings (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) in
the triple jump (41 1 1/2").
The women's 4-x-400 meter relay team of
sophomore Gloria Boxell (Zionsville/ Covenant
Christian), freshman Erin Cox (West
Harrison/Franklin County), freshman Katherine
Moravec (Seymour) and Clauser also came home fifth in a
time of 4:21.21.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Ohio Wesleyan
University Invitational next Saturday.
