HAUTE, IND. -- In the women's tennis season opener, Rose-Hulman
Institute of Techonology defeated Bluffton University and fell to
nationally ranked Ohio Nothern University on Saturday.
Junior Marie Stettler (Edgerton, Wis./Senior), sophomore Suzana Mohd (Puchong, Malaysia), senior Melissa Montgomery (Alexandria/Monroe), Junior Paige Cook (Terre Haute/North) and sophomore Kylie McCollum (Lee's Summitt, Mo./West) earned singles and doubles victories to pace Rose-Hulman's effort.
The team of Stettler and Montgomery won at No. 1 doubles, with Cook and Mohd winning at No. 2. Junior Lauren Reberger (Brazil/Northview) also contributed to the No. 3 doubles victory with junior Mary Schultz (Harrison, Ohio).
Rose-Hulman improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in HCAC play, while Bluffton dropped to 0-1. Ohio Northern improves to 1-0. The Engineers return home for matches against Oakland City and IU-East tomorrow starting at noon.
