TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men’s tennis team picked up its first victory of the season with a 6-3 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Defiance Friday at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center.
Rose-Hulman (1-4, 1-1 HCAC) swept the Yellow Jackets (5-6, 1-1) in doubles play, as the No. 1 team of Brandon Benedict (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and Georges Adam (Barueri, Brazil/Colegio Pentagono), the No. 2 duo of Matt Conrad (Anderson, Ind./Lapel) and Nate Moore (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and the No. 3 team of Erin Miller (Stamping Ground, Ky./Scott County) and Ray Montgomery (Terre Haute/South Vigo) all picked up victories.
In singles, RHIT won at the No. 1, 2, and 3 spots to secure the team victory, as Benedict, Adam, and Conrad won their matches in straight sets for the Fightin’ Engineers.
Rose-Hulman returns to the court Sunday when the Engineers host Hanover for a 11 a.m. matchup at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center on RHIT’s campus.
