BOX SCORES: FERRUM / JOHNSON & WALES

Martinek-acCLERMONT, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed its annual spring softball trip to Florida with a 3-5 record after falling in the final two games on Friday.

Ferrum topped Rose-Hulman 13-5 in the opener, before Johnson & Wales earned a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.

In the Ferrum contest, sophomore Jessica Ahlborn (Houghton, Mich.) slapped two singles and junior Allison Bowman (Fort Wayne/Snider) had a single and two RBIs to lead the Rose-Hulman offense. 

Senior Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart/Central) and junior Jenna Martinek (Troy, Mo./Buchanan) each contributed a single, one run and one RBI.

In the nightcap, Tayla Gardner tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead Johnson and Wales in the 3-0 victory.  Widmoyer and sophomore Carly Heibel (Fort Wayne/Lakewood Park) had hits for the Engineers.  Senior Alyse Mueller (Belleville, Ill./West) tossed a complete game in the circle with three strikeouts.

Rose-Hulman returns to action with a doubleheader at Taylor University on March 9.
