BOX SCORE

heibel-pitchCLERMONT, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology moved to 2-1 on its Florida softball trip with a 4-2 win over Capital late Tuesday night.

The Fightin' Engineers were originally scheduled to square off with Capital at 1 p.m., but rain forced the start time to 10 p.m.  Rose-Hulman's game with Augustana, scheduled for Tuesday, was cancelled.

Freshman Marissa Stout (Terre Haute/South) picked up her first college victory with four innings of work.  Stout scattered seven hits and allowed two runs.  Sophomore Carly Heibel (Fort Wayne/Lakewood Park) pitched three scoreless innings to earn the save.

Offensively, freshman Stephanie Turner (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) slapped two singles with one run and one RBI against a team located in her hometown.  Heibel also had a single and two RBI, while freshman Whitney Strain (St. Charles, Mo./Orchard Farm) scored two runs for the Engineers.

Rose-Hulman returns to action with games against Michigan-Dearborn and Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday.
