Martinek1GAME 1 BOX SCORE; GAME 2 BOX SCORE

CLERMONT, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology narrowly fell 6-3 to Marywood, before dropping a 9-0 decision to nationally ranked Alma in softball action during the team's Florida trip on Tuesday.

The Engineers slapped 11 hits, with freshman Jenna Martinek (Troy, Mo./Buchanan) (pictured)  smashing a triple and a single with two runs scored to lead the effort against Marywood.

Sophomore Alyse Mueller (Belleville/West) added a single and a double, and senior Kayla Yano (Ontario, Ore.) had a double in the opener.

In the nightcap, the Engineers loaded the bases in the sixth inning courtesy of singles by Martinek, Yano and sophomore Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart/Central).  Alma turned a double play to end the offensive threat.

Rose-Hulman returns to action on Thursday with a pair of matchups, including an opening game against Johnson and Wales at 11:30 a.m.
