TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology scored late in the first half to earn a 1-0 women's
soccer victory over Fontbonne on Wednesday night.
Freshman Katie DeMoss (Martinsville/Roncalli) scored in the 33rd minute, on an assist from junior Amy Schleter (Knoxville, Tenn./Karns). Freshman Lucinda Combs (Danville, Ky./Boyle County) recorded her third straight shutout with six saves to lead the Engineer defensive effort.
Rose-Hulman outshot Fontbonne 14-8 in the contest, including 6-2 in the second half. Sophomore Nicky Wheeler (Avon) led the offensive effort with five shots.
Rose-Hulman improved to 4-3-1 on the season, while Fontbonne dropped to 2-6. The Fightin' Engineers host Principia in the Homecoming game on Saturday.
