HAUTE, IND.-- Rose-Hulman knocked in a goal late but it wasn't
enough as the Engineers fell 2-1 in the women's
soccer conference opener to Transylvania
University.
Freshman Nicky Wheeler (Avon, Ind.) knocked in the lone Engineer goal in the 76th minute with a rocket from 25 yards out that deflected off the hands of the keeper and into the goal.
Senior goalkeeper Julie Brennan (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) recorded nine saves on the day.
Alyssa Kruse scored twice for Transylvania to give the Pioneers their two goals.
The Engineers fell to 3-5 overall and are now 0-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Translyvania improved to 7-1 on the year and 1-0 in the HCAC.
