Men's Soccer Earns NSCAA Academic Award


Nscaa Women Men SoccerTERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was one of just 192 colleges across the country to have both its men's and women's soccer teams earn a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2012 season.

To earn the award -- which is presented one season behind -- teams must have an average grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of 875 teams received the honor.

The 2012 Rose-Hulman men's soccer team, which shared the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title and finished with a 12-5-3 overall mark, recorded a team G.P.A of 3.15 to earn the award under the direction of head coach Sean Helliwell.

The Fightin' Engineers women's soccer team, coached by Amy Helliwell, was also honored with a team G.P.A. of 3.28. RHIT finished the 2012 season 9-7-3 overall.

The NSCAA College Team Academic Award winners for 2013 will be announced at this time next year.
