Men's Soccer Cracks Regional Rankings

Msocsenat225TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men’s soccer team has cracked the top 10 in the Tuesday’s regional rankings released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The Fightin’ Engineers (1-0, 0-0) are ranked No. 8 in this week’s NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region poll after picking up a convincing 3-0 victory over Trine last week. Rose-Hulman’s match with 2012 national runner-up Ohio Northern was called a no-contest after being suspended in the 27th minute due to lightning.

Led by sixth-year head coach Sean Helliwell, Rose-Hulman enters the 2013 season with high expectations after a stellar 2012 campaign when the Engineers finished 12-5-3 overall and 8-0-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, which tied them for first place.

The Fightin’ Engineers return to the field Saturday and Sunday, when they hit the road for matchups against Wabash College (0-1) and regionally-ranked DePauw (2-0), which stands as the Great Lakes Region’s No. 3 team.
