TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology scored five goals on 12 shots to defeat Millikin
University 5-0 in men's soccer action on Tuesday
Sophomore B.J. Thompson (Princeton) led
the offensive attack with two goals. Junior Clint
Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University) also had a
four-point night with one goal and two assists.
Thompson put the Engineers on the board in the eighth
minute on a double assist from senior Corbin Clow
(Martinsville) and Vatterrodt.
The lead grew to 2-0 at the intermission on a score by
senior Nick Race (Martinsville) in the 40th
minute. Senior Eric Myers (Indianapolis/Mount
Vernon) was credited with the assist.
Rose-Hulman's advantage reached 3-0 on a score by
Vatterrodt in the 74th minute. Clow and senior
Mitchell Ishmael (Knoxville, Tenn./ Farragut)
provided the assists.
Junior Tim Hollingshead (St. Peters,
Mo./Lutheran) increased the lead to 4-0 on a score from
Vatterrodt in the 78th minute. Thompson rounded out the
scoring on a goal, courtesy of an assist from sophomore Joe
Byrd (Danville/Covenant Christian) in the 85th
Rose-Hulman outshot Millikin 12-7 in the contest, with
Vatterrodt and senior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles,
Ill./Burlington Central) recorded three shots each.
Junior Eric Davenport (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way
Central) tallied four saves in the shutout.
Rose-Hulman improved to 4-5-2 on the season, while
