Three-Way Playoff Highlights RHIT Men's Golf Invite


lambertTERRE HAUTE, IND -- A three-way playoff for medalist honors highlighted the 2013 Rose-Hulman Men's Golf Invitational at Rea Park Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.

Griffen Brown of Franklin rolled home a 12-foot birdie putt on the first hole of the sudden death play to capture medalist honors.  Brown and Robert Bader of Hanover fired matching rounds of 71 and 75, with Clay Hinton of Transylvania joining the playoff after scores of 74 and 72.

Nationally ranked Transylvania captured top honors in the team scoring with a two-day total of 594.  Franklin added a score of 600, with Hanover rounding out the top three at 611.

For Rose-Hulman, junior Travis Whithaus (Robinson, Ill./Vincennes University) led the way with a 10th place individual finish.  Whithaus fired rounds of 77 and 74 on the weekend.

Freshman Chris Lambert (Chesterfield, Mo./Chaminade Prep) came home 19th after scoring 75 and 79.  Freshman Kent Kraus (Greenwood/Center Grove) came home 22nd overall with scores of 77 and 79, followed by freshman Sanders Park (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) at 82 and 77.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the HCAC Championships starting April 27-28 hosted by Mount St. Joseph.  The Fightin' Engineers will host the final two rounds on May 4-5 at Rea Park.
