DickersonMarianTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team has been picked to finish sixth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season in a preseason poll of league coaches.

Four starters and six letter winners return to the 2011-12 roster, along with an incoming class of five talented freshmen.  Alisa Dickerson (Elizabethtown, Ky.) returns as the team's lone senior and stands 9th in school history in points (917), 7th in rebounds (548), 2nd in assists (240) and 5th in blocks (82).

Five talented newcomers will add depth and talent to the roster.

Franklin College was selected to win the league championship and received six of 10 first-place votes, followed by a tie for second-place honors between Hanover and Transylvania.   Manchester was selected fourth, followed by Defiance in the fifth spot.  Rose-Hulman, Bluffton, Mount St. Joseph, Anderson and Earlham rounded out the poll order.

Rose-Hulman opens the 2011-12 season at the Centre College Tipoff Tournament on Nov. 18-19.  The Fightin' Engineers open their home schedule on Nov. 29 against St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in the annual Clabber Girl Trophy Game.
