ploof-buFRANKLIN, IND. -- Franklin College relied on a strong defensive effort to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 45-32 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday night.

Lindsay Rich led all scorers with 17 points.  Jess Prewett added nine points for the Grizzlies.

Freshman Addie Johnson (Caledonia, Mich./Catholic Central) came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points and grab seven rebounds for Rose-Hulman.  Junior Kelsey Ploof (Noblesville) also reached double figures with 10 points and six rebounds.

Junior Lauren Meadows (Indianapolis/Brebeuf) added six points off the bench for the Engineers, who were limited to 34% from the field by a strong Franklin defensive effort.

Franklin improved to 18-4 overall and 12-3 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 11-11 and 7-8 in league games.  The Fightin' Engineers hit the road for Defiance College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
