DickersonMarianDANVILLE, KY. -- Marian University shot 52% from the field and relied on a strong defensive effort to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 68-45 in women's basketball action on Friday night.

Marian improved to 3-0 on the year, while Rose-Hulman dropped its season opener in round one of the Centre College Tip-off Classic.  Whitney Emerson led a balanced Marian scoring attack with 18 points.

Senior Alisa Dickerson (Elizabethtown, Ky.) paced the Rose-Hulman attack with 21 points and eight rebounds for her 10th career game of 20 or more points.

Freshman Sheree Williams (Bluffton, S.C.) pitched in with nine points, and sophomore Heather Finnell (Decatur, Tenn./Cleveland) contributed eight points and four rebounds to the effort.

Rose-Hulman outrebounded Marian 32-28 in the contest, led by eight boards for Dickerson, seven rebounds for freshman Grace Gibbs (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa) and five rebounds for freshman Chris Rollins (Springfield, Ohio).

Rose-Hulman stands 0-1 on the season and returns to action against Centre on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
